Chronos ("we", "our", or "us") is a task management and productivity application. This Privacy Policy
explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address - Used for account creation and authentication
- Display name - If you sign in with Google
Task Data
- Tasks you create, including titles, descriptions, due dates, and priorities
- Categories and organizational preferences
- Focus mode settings and preferences
Google Calendar Data (Optional)
Important: Google Calendar access is optional and requires your explicit consent. We
request read-only access to your calendar events. We cannot create, modify, or delete
your calendar data.
If you choose to connect your Google Calendar, we access:
- Event titles, dates, and times
- Event duration
This data is used solely to display your existing calendar events alongside your tasks, helping you plan
around your schedule and avoid conflicts.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide our service - Display and manage your tasks
- Calendar integration - Show your Google Calendar events for planning purposes
- AI scheduling assistance - Help suggest optimal times for tasks while avoiding calendar
conflicts
- Sync across devices - Keep your data consistent across web and mobile
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using:
- Google Firebase - For authentication and real-time database
- Google Cloud Firestore - For secure data storage
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We follow industry-standard security practices to
protect your information.
Google Calendar Tokens
If you connect Google Calendar:
- OAuth refresh tokens are stored securely on our servers (never on your device)
- Access tokens are short-lived and refreshed automatically
- Tokens are immediately deleted when you disconnect your calendar
4. Data Sharing, Transfer, and Disclosure
Important: We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your Google user data to any third parties.
Your data is only shared with service providers necessary to operate the application.
How We Share Google User Data
When you connect your Google Calendar, your calendar data may be shared with the following services solely
for
the purpose of providing app functionality:
- Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore - Your OAuth tokens are securely stored on our
backend servers (hosted on Google Cloud) to maintain your calendar connection. Calendar event data is
temporarily processed but NOT permanently stored.
- Google Gemini AI - Event titles and times (not descriptions or attendee information)
may be sent to Google's Gemini AI service to detect scheduling conflicts and provide intelligent
suggestions. This data is processed in real-time and is not retained by the AI service.
We Do NOT
- Sell your Google user data to third parties
- Use your Google user data for advertising purposes
- Share your data with data brokers or analytics companies
- Transfer your data to third parties for their own purposes
- Disclose your data to any party except as required by law
Legal Disclosure
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests by public
authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency).
Google API Disclosure
Chronos's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the
Google API
Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate Chronos:
- Google Firebase - Authentication and data storage (Privacy Policy)
- Google Calendar API - Read-only calendar access when connected (Privacy Policy)
- Google Gemini AI - AI-powered scheduling suggestions (Privacy Policy)
These service providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection practices.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Disconnect Google Calendar - Remove calendar access anytime from Settings
- Delete your account - Contact us to delete all your data
- Access your data - Request a copy of your data by contacting us
- Revoke Google access - Visit Google Account Permissions to revoke access
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account or disconnect
integrations:
- Account data is deleted within 30 days
- Google Calendar tokens are deleted immediately upon disconnection
- Cached calendar events are removed from display immediately
7. Children's Privacy
Chronos is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under
13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a
notice in the app or sending an email.
